Pirate Chain Monthly Update | June 2026

Pirate Chain Monthly Update | June 2026

We're moving closer to the release of one of our Unified Wallet's most exciting features: built-in atomic swaps to ARRR. Our focus this month also continues to be around our event sponsorships, new media appearances, sponsorship of Sal the Agorist, and continued AnonBazaar fundraising.

Monthly Update Meeting

Unified Wallet Progress

While a new public build has not been released yet, the next version is expected soon and includes a long list of improvements, bug fixes, and new functionality.

Key Updates This Month

  • Updated Continuous Integration (CI) build dependencies on GitHub
  • Updated the React Native plugin test harness application
  • Updated Rust dependencies
  • Moved to Flutter version 3.44.1
  • Fixed transaction signing timeout issues on larger transactions
  • Improved birthday height estimation using monthly chain checkpoints
  • Fixed wallet rescanning when switching between imported wallets
  • Fixed UI refresh issues after resync
  • Continued work on overall wallet stability and usability

The birthday height fix is especially useful for restored wallets. Instead of relying only on a simple one-block-per-minute estimate, the wallet now uses historical checkpoints to produce a more accurate restore height.

Atomic Swaps

The biggest wallet feature announced this month is built-in Komodo Classic atomic swap support. The Unified Wallet is being built with direct support for non-KYC, non-custodial swaps using the Komodo DeFi Framework.

The first supported swap paths include:

  • ARRR ↔ LTC
  • ARRR ↔ vARRR

This means users will be able to swap directly inside the wallet while keeping custody of their coins at all times.

The wallet will include two swap modes. The simple swap mode will feel similar to using a centralized swapping service: choose the pair, enter the amount, set slippage, and continue. The advanced swap mode will offer a more exchange-style experience, including market orders, limit orders, order books, open orders, swap history, and resumed swaps if the app closes mid-process.

This is a major step for usability. It gives users a direct path into and out of Pirate Chain without relying on KYC exchanges or custodial platforms. It also means swap fees can help support Pirate Chain development rather than going to centralized exchanges.

Release Timeline

The Unified Wallet is now in the final stretch. The team is working through final bugs, branding, and preparation for app store submission.

Once branding is finalized, the wallet will be submitted to:

  • Google Play Store
  • Apple App Store
  • Desktop release channels for Windows, macOS, and Linux

App store review is expected to take around two weeks once submitted. If all goes well, the wallet will launch across all major platforms with the same interface, same codebase, and the same privacy-first experience.

The wallet remains available for testing through the PirateNetwork GitHub. Community feedback is still needed, especially around transactions, UI flow, sync behavior, and general usability.

Orchard Testnet Continues

Orchard remains in public testnet and still needs more testers. Users can download the Orchard testnet release from the PirateNetwork / Pirate GitHub under 6.0.0, then join the Orchard testing channel on Discord to request testnet coins.

Note that these are not real ARRR and cannot be deposited on exchanges. They are only for testing. Users can also mine testnet coins with CPU if they prefer. The more devices, users, and edge cases tested now, the stronger the final release will be.

Pirate Chain (ARRR) Unaffected by the Zcash Orchard Vulnerability

A recently disclosed issue in Zcash’s Orchard shielded pool could have allowed the creation of counterfeit ZEC. The bug has existed since 2022 and was fixed by Zcash on 3 June 2026 in an emergency hard fork. Pirate Chain (ARRR) is NOT affected. Pirate Chain (ARRR) is built on the Sapling shielded protocol and remains unaffected by the Zcash Orchard vulnerability. No ARRR funds are at risk.

Pirate Chain's future Orchard integration is underway and will uptake Zcash's Orchard bug fix, which will be extensively tested before deployment. Read more about how Pirate Chain was not affected on the Pirate Chain blog.

The privacy, security, and integrity of the Pirate Chain network and its users' funds remain our highest priority.

Pirate Chain Issues Version 5.9.3 Signed Release - Fixes Medium Security Issue

Pirate Chain was contacted in early June by a security researcher regarding a security issue identified during an investigation using security-enabled AI. The security researcher, Antics Decoded, discovered a medium-level networking issue while doing an investigation of the Pirate Chain code.

The issue pointed out a possible remote node denial of service attack vector against synchronized production nodes. This issue has now been fixed in the PirateNetwork Version 5.9.3 Signed Release.

The security issue affected all Komodo-based chains, including Komodo, Komodo Classic, and Pirate Chain. The code lineage of Pirate Chain includes Bitcoin, Zcash, and Komodo with full zero-knowledge proof privacy enabled using zk-SNARKs to create Pirate Chain.

Developer Oswald analysed the security issue alerted to Pirate Chain by the security researcher and coordinated a response. Lead developer Forge implemented Pirate Chain's fix in 5.9.3 and coordinated with Komodo and Komodo Classic teams.

For reporting potential vulnerabilities for Pirate Chain, please contact [email protected] privately. See the Pirate Chain blog post for more details.

Interview with The Crypto Vigilante

Oswald recently recorded an interview with The Crypto Vigilante, focused on Pirate Chain technology and development. The interview is a strong resource for anyone who wants a deeper technical explanation of what Pirate Chain is building.

Oswald has been leading major work on the Unified Wallet and continues to be one of the key contributors pushing Pirate Chain forward.

Enemies of the State Event

Pirate Chain sponsored Enemies of the State: Renegades at the Rapids on 23 May. The event was hosted by Mark Edge and included speakers such as Aaron Day, Ammon Bundy, and Lyn Ulbricht, with additional video speakers including Tor Ekeland, Michael Hassard, Chris Hurlburt, and Ray Youssef.

The event aligned strongly with Pirate Chain’s values around freedom, privacy, decentralization, and resistance to financial surveillance.

Red Pill Expo Sponsorship

Pirate Chain is also sponsoring Red Pill Expo, taking place 11–12 July in Las Vegas. The event is hosted by G. Edward Griffin’s Red Pill University, and Pirate Chain will have a video ad playing during the conference.

For anyone in the freedom, sound money, or privacy space, G. Edward Griffin’s work has had a major influence, especially through The Creature from Jekyll Island. Pirate Chain is proud to support an event connected to that legacy.

More information can be found at redpillexpo.org, and a free livestream is expected.

Null404 at DEFCON

Pirate Chain will once again sponsor the Null404 party during DEFCON in Las Vegas this August. Null404 is a cybersecurity group that Pirate Chain has supported for several years, and their DEFCON afterparty has grown into one of the most popular side events of the conference.

DEFCON attracts cybersecurity professionals, developers, researchers, hackers, and privacy-minded technologists, making it an ideal audience for Pirate Chain. The Null404 party usually includes a puzzle or clue-based process to find the location, plus free drinks, pizza, and plenty of technical conversation.

If you are going to DEFCON, keep an eye on null404.org for details.

Sal the Agorist Sponsorship Updates

The fundraiser for Sal the Agorist and The Subversive Spectrum has officially been completed, and Sal has been paid. Pirate Chain is now an official sponsor of the show.

This sponsorship was handled openly through the community because Pirate Chain does not operate through hidden influencer payments or behind-the-scenes promotions. Sal already supported Pirate Chain, already spoke about privacy coins, and shares many of the same values around agorism, decentralization, and building alternatives to fiat systems.

A Pirate Chain sign is being made for his studio, and DaJohns is expected to appear on the show regularly to discuss Pirate Chain, privacy, and cryptocurrency.

AnonBazaar Crowdfunding Push

The AnonBazaar fundraiser is still active, and this is one of the most important utility-focused efforts underway.

AnonBazaar is a privacy coin marketplace built by the same people behind XMRBazaar, but with the goal of supporting multiple privacy coins. Getting ARRR listed there would give Pirate Chain users a real place to buy and sell goods and services directly with private money.

This matters because adoption is not just about buying ARRR on exchanges. A stronger path is earning ARRR by selling products, services, or even old items lying around the house. Whether it is a guitar, collectibles, digital services, or handmade goods, a marketplace gives people a direct way to participate in the Pirate Chain economy.

Donations are accepted in ARRR, Monero, and Litecoin through piratechain.com/crowdfunding, and the Pirate Chain team is matching community donations.

The Pirate Chain team will be matching community donations for AnonBazaar. Contributions can be made in ARRR, Monero, or Litecoin, and even small donations help signal demand and move the integration forward.

You can donate in ARRR, XMR, or LTC. View keys are posted for ARRR/XMR transparency.

Welcome freQniK to the Pirate Chain Team

Pirate Chain officially welcomes freQniK to the team. Many in the community already know him through his work on the Meile dVPN app, a decentralized VPN service that accepts ARRR.

freQniK has contributed consistently to Pirate Chain, especially through testing and technical work behind the scenes. He has shown initiative, built useful tools, and supported the project without needing to be asked. The team is excited to have him officially on board.

In Closing

This is a major year for Pirate Chain. Right now, the most useful things you can do are simple: test the wallet, test Orchard, donate to AnonBazaar, share the quarterly report, follow Sal the Agorist, and tell people why private digital cash matters.

Pirate Chain remains a volunteer-driven project. There was no ICO, no premine, and no Wall Street backing. Everything moves forward because people like you contribute time, skills, ideas, testing, outreach, and resources.

The next Pirate Chain monthly update will take place on the 13th of July at 3 PM Eastern Time. Join our Pirate Chain community calls on Sundays at 1 PM Eastern Time on Discord. The calls are open to everyone to ask questions, share ideas, and get involved directly with the Pirate Chain community.
